This down to earth market in Leather Lane is what traditional London street stalls should look like. A bit scruffy it may be but you never know what you might find - from fruit and vegetables to batteries, mobile phone accessories and rucksacks, all at bargain prices. Open 10am to around 3pm on weekdays, it attracts office workers and gives them something to browse around while getting their lunch. Acting as a link between the busy main roads of High Holborn and Clerkenwell Road Leather Lane Market, together with the jewellery wholesalers at Hatton Garden which runs in parallel, makes for a scenic detour around the back streets of the city. Alongside the market are plenty of cafes and stalls catering to the lunchtime crowd - from Italian delis to curry kiosks and not a Starbucks in sight.
