Australian art dealer Rebecca Hossack opened her first London art gallery in Windmill Street, Fitzrovia, in March 1988, and established a sculpture park in St James in 1991. There are now two galleries - this one in Conway Street and a second in Charlotte Street - which have continued to uphold Rebecca Hossack name, building on reputation for contemporary art with expertise in Aboriginal art in particular. An influential presence on the London art scene, she is also politically active. Rebecca was the Australian cultural attache in London for four years, from 1993 to 1997 and, more recently, was elected as a Council member for the Bloomsbury ward in Camden.
