The walls of The Bead Shop just of St Martin's Lane in Covent Garden are lined with boxes full of carefully classified beads, clasps, tools and threads. You can spend hours browsing among the delicate beads which come in all shapes and sizes from Swarovski crystals to semi-precious stones. Even if you're a novice at making your own jewellery the expert staff are happy to help out. Not sure what width thread you need or how to crimp your clasp? They'll give you a brief beginners guide to the basics including a sheet of paper on how to securely tie your finished piece. If you've never gone browsing for beads before you'll find it strangely absorbing.
