As music and video giants go, Virgin's Megastore in Piccadilly (formerly Tower Records) is perhaps the most accommodating and rewarding choice. The gigantic store has got it all, and more, and its layout in terms of various departments stops one from feeling overwhelmed.
EDITOR'S NOTE: When Virgin bought out Tower Records the indie spirit of this store - which saw several charting acts formed among the staff and even inspired tosh movie 'Empire Records' - disappeared. It was replaced by a vast 'Top 40' section, some eye-watering prices, but a good solid selection. The death of Tower was a sad one for music lovers, but this is still a good place for a browse.
