In the South-West of the borough of Kensington and Chelsea lies Notting Hill, one of the most attractive parts of London and home to the famous Portobello Road Market and Europe's biggest street party, Notting Hill Carnival, which takes place at the end of August. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts starred in a 1999 Richard Curtis film about the well heeled West London area, sending tourists flocking there in search of a blue door and a travel book shop. In reality, two locations were used: Nicholls Antique Arcade, now furniture store Gong at 142 Portobello Road, and The Travel Bookshop, 13-15 Blenheim Crescent, just off Portobello. In addition to the picturesque market, Notting Hill is a great area for shopping, eating and drinking with Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Grove offering plenty to buy, do and see.
