The name is a little misleading - you won't find any farmers selling their wares at Chelsea Farmers' Market. Instead, this quiet enclave off the busy Kings Road is a scenic square comprised of one-off shops and restaurants with al fresco eating. In summer, the open square courtyard at the heart of the market really comes into its own. It's then that The Market Place restaurant does a brisk trade - its wooden tables are laid out, drawing large lunchtime crowds who take cover under the shade of the outsized umbrellas. After lunch, it's fun to browse around the shops selling all kinds of things from expensive handbags to affordable and obscure books. If you're into plants then the oasis that is The Chelsea Gardener is also worth a look and just a short stroll down Sydney Street. It may not be a farmers' market in the true sense of the word but this corner of Chelsea is still a delight to discover.
