After five years at 1 Vyner Street Alma Enterprises, the project-space which began as a base for successful young artists' collective 'Land', moved to this new address in Glasshill Street, Southwark on 1st May 2009. One of the first galleries to open on Vyner Street, they're leaving behind the area they helped to establish as a vibrant arts scene. Exchanging the old building - a particularly unlovely example of local government architecture - for this South London gallery, Alma directors, Ben Tomlinson and Charlie Tweed, aim to focus on working with individual artists. Work for exhibition at the gallery is often created during a period of residency at the space itself. The relationship between curator and artist is a close one and the works on display have an intended relationship with the exhibition space.
