For 30 years Four Corners has been training, producing and supporting the full range of film and photographic requirements. Services on offer include filmmaking facilities and photographic darkrooms, film training, industry work placements, professional development for freelancers and production as well as exhibitions, screenings, talks and events. With digital photography taking over from analogue, the Four Corners darkroom has become a hive of activity. Set up in 1973 by four young filmmakers - Joanna Davis, Mary Pat Leece, Ronald Peck and Wilfried Thust - to develop independent filmmaking. Originally the cinema would show screenings of a range of work to local audiences while the production side of things helped fund films like 'Bred and Born' - an experimental documentary on four generations of working-class women from one family in the East End. Now it is one of London's most active organisations supporting filmmaking talent and nurturing new cinematic projects while continuing to support both still and moving image work, with the means to make and exhibit film and photography.
