A unique concept when it comes to sightseeing tours, Soundmap specialise in audio tours ordered online and delivered straight to you to download onto your MP3 player. A cool idea for those of you who want to choose for yourselves when you do your walk (ideally when the weather doesn't involve either a) rain b) hail c) snow d) sleet e) excessive wind, or any combination of the aforementioned climactic conditions). It's also the perfect solution if you'd prefer to conduct your tour at your own speed and not in the company of hoards of tourists and a bombastic guide. Each tour lasts one hour and is narrated - to a backdrop of atmospheric sound effects and music - by a local expert, which means you get more than just the stock facts and anecdotes. They currently cover Brixton, Camden, King's Road and Soho. All you do is buy the tour online at www.soundmap.co.uk, download it onto your MP3 player, print off their PDF map and get walking.
