Take the pedestrian subway below Edgware Road and Harrow Road and you'll come across a hidden corner of culture in the Subway Gallery. Situated under landmarks like Paddington Green, the Marylebone flyover and the Metropole Hilton Hotel, the gallery specialises in contemporary artists. Born on 6th June 2006 (06-06-06), the gallery was conceived by artist and curator Robert Gordon McHarg, the space itself is a 1960s kiosk with glass walls - a former shoe repair shop - which creates a unique showcase for art. If you've ventured this far underground, with four lanes of traffic accelerating overhead, it'd be a shame not to check out what's going on in the gallery.
