Shoreditch Tube station closed on 9th June 2006 to make way for works being undertaken for the extension of the East London Line, due to open in 2010. The station previously opened only for peak time travel and will be replaced by Shoreditch High Street Station on the site of the old Bishopsgate Goods Yard. The new station will be open full time and run a full operational service north to Dalston Junction and south to New Cross, Crystal Palace and West Croydon.
A replacement bus service in place of the station picks up and drops off on Bethnal Green Road and at Whitechapel Road outside Whitechapel Station.
