Opened in 1991 with a £50 million extension to the terminal building completed in 2008, Stansted Airport is one of the newer of London's international airports. It deals with around 17.4 million passengers per year (as of December 2012), making it the third-busiest airport in London and the fourth-busiest in the UK. Top international destinations (in order of popularity) are Dublin, Alicante (Spain), Malaga (Spain) and Rome (Italy). The top three UK destinations (in order) are Edinburgh, Belfast and Glasgow. The Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes between Stansted airport and London Liverpool Street and takes 47 minutes. Off peak, the Express runs twice an hour, and is replaced by a bus service during the night. Access by car is via junction 8 of the M11. Take junction 27 off the M25 if you're arriving by car from London.
