Large parish church near the Holborn viaduct whose distinctive white marble tower stands tall, presiding over the busy crossroads and opposite the huge glass façade of the Sainsbury's headquarters. The tower and exterior walls survived the London Blitz during WWII but the church was restored "stone for stone and brick for brick" to Sir Christopher Wren's original designs. Surrounded by offices, the Grade 1 listed St Andrew now serves the local working rather than resident community. Thomas Coram, founder of the Foundling' Hospital, is buried here while the church's organ was often played by Handel during his years in London.St Andrew's Church images
