The Lawn Bistro is the combined talents of restaurateur Akbar Ashurov and chef Ollie Couillaud, former head chef at Bord'eaux at Grosvenor House, Tom Aiken's Tom's Kitchen and La Trompette. As master of his own menu, Ollie cooks in-season ingredients with strong influences from France (his country of origin), Britain, Spain and Italy. Chicken liver and foie gras parfait, grilled courgette and aubergine with goat's curd are sample starters on a menu which changes frequently. Follow that with mains which typically include croque monsieur and cote de boeuf both of which come with big chips and salad. On Sundays lunch is a choice of roasts, examples include rib of Aberdeen Angus beef served with horseradish cream, or roast leg of salt marsh lamb with rosemary and Dauphinois potatoes. In an area which lacks in ambitious, independent restaurants The Lawn Bistro has come as a breath of fresh air. In fact, it has proved so popular with locals since it opened in Wimbledon Village in September 2011 that the owners have expanded to launch The Lawn Bakery down the road at 9 High Street which opened on 17 May 2012.
