A staple on the London restaurant scene since 1991 Big Easy on the Kings Road got a makeover in 2018, reopening in September with a new look, larger bar, double the previous size. In the dining room, tables are bare and exposed steel is softened with maroon leather and painted wood. Simple, classic décor, sturdy tables, an extensive and delicious junior menu, and extremely friendly staff who will hand out crayons, this is one of the best places in London to take children. The jukebox can be a little loud if you sit too close, and it's always very busy, but this is a superior place. The starters and mains are both excellent, with a wide range of choices on the Bar.B.Q menu cooked to perfection by the well-practised kitchen. The dips and sauces in particular have been perfected over the years and are a real treat. The best options here are probably the heartiest: Surf and Turf features extravagant garlic prawns, and the roasted lobster is a huge and memorable feast. At night there's live country and blues music and the place gets pretty rowdy, but if you're after good times and great, honest American food, there are few better places.
