Jockey Frankie Dettori's record breaking seven wins (in a row in one day at Ascot in 1996) give his Sydney Street restaurant, Sette, its name. He has previously owned restaurants in partnership with Marco Pierre White (and still maintains a business interest in Frankie's Bar & Grill) but for Sette he has teamed up with chef Stefano Stecca, drawing on their shared heritage to present an Italian restaurant with a menu that spans regional Italy. Stecca who hails from Rimini, a coastal city on the Adriatic Sea, has created a core of dishes from his home town playing on its fish and seafood heritage. Pasta, naturally features strongly, and typical dishes on the seasonal menu include linguine with lobster, cuttlefish and langoustine salad, monkfish with roast potatoes and tomato, and fish soup Rimini-style - with cuttlefish, scampi, clams, crab, mussels and tripe. Restaurant manager Umberto Scomparin who has chosen the all-Italian wine list completes the team and provides plenty of personality.
