The historic Guinea Grill in Mayfair is an establishment that has seen generations of Royals, dignitaries and stars of the screen pass through its doors. Famed for its steaks for over 60 years, the Guinea has been sourcing its beef from Godfrey's of Highgate, one of only six butchers in London to be a member of The Q Guild, for the past 30. Only the very best will do at this traditional pub, one of London's oldest public houses, located on the same street as Her Majesty The Queen was born. From 12th June 2016, to mark The Queen's 90th birthday, the pub opens for Sunday lunch with starters including a choice of six rock oysters, H Forman & Son Scottish smoked salmon, tender ox cheek braised in red wine, and prawn cocktail. Meat is the main draw and Chateaubriand the star of the show, served with all the trimmings - duck fat roast potatoes, double yolk Yorkshire pudding, honey glazed baby carrots and baby parsnips, Swiss chard, curly kale, baby onions and bacon. 24-hour braised lamb shoulder, sea trout, and a vegetarian pithivier pie are also on the menu. Sommelier Sebastiano Ingaliso will guide you through the wine list, suggesting a crisp glass of Chablis with your oysters or a robust claret with your steak.
