The Araki
Formerly run by Japanese sushi master Mitsuhiro Araki, who has since moved back to Tokyo, The Araki relocated from Tokyo to London in 2014. The restaurant is now headed up by British-Chinese sous chef, Mitsuhiro's long-term protege, Marty Lau. With only nine seats, it is considered to be an experience rather than a simple dinner out and sees Araki's traditional adomae sushi adapted to incorporate European produce, serving salmon for the first time as well as luxury ingredients such as caviar and truffle. It's strictly sushi, however, with no tempura, teriyaki, karaage or meat dishes on the menu. Come for a refined sushi experience in an intimate nine-seat setting though at 310 per person with a no-choice set menu, you need to really love sushi to visit here.
