Please Sit at Fenton House

Please Sit at Fenton House hotels title=Taking inspiration from the interior and artefacts of Fenton House, six contemporary artists give the 17th-century merchant home in Hampstead new seating. In doing so, they also encourage us to slow down and see the features they've chosen from a fresh perspective. Designer Gitta Gschwendtner was commissioned by The National Trust as guest host to invite five fellow designers, varied in background and outlook, to participate. Gitta herself has translated the idea of Jacob's ladder into the form of a chair with a high back. The other five installations are as varied as a harpsichord bench and an oversized plywood chair, encouraging us to focus in onsnuff boxes and perfume bottles, while Maisie Broadhead's chair appears consumed by the carpet around it.
