Hotels near Foyles - Charing Cross Road

Great British bookshop Foyles has been trading since 1903 and in 2014 it moves out of its home for more than 80 years at 113-119 Charing Cross Road and into the former Central St Martins College of Art and Design building at number 107, just a few yards down the road. While Charing Cross Road has pretty much always been home to Foyles, this is the fourth time the shop has changed location. The new 1930s era, art-deco building has high ceilings and an atrium which gives sweeping views of a vast choice of books. The former ballroom floor houses the fiction department, the old assembly hall - where the Sex Pistols once played - is home to the children's department with art and design at the front of the shop - in homage to the building's previous use. The mezzanine floor houses cookery, travel and other lifestyle books and there's an entire floor dedicated to music and film including vinyl for sale in Ray's Jazz. The light filled cafe and exhibition space at the top of the shop is the place to go for Foyles' wide and exciting programme of events and book signings. Bookmark this one.
