One of the most popular Olympic sports for spectators is the Olympic Diving competition, which takes place at the Aquatics Centre from Sunday 29 July to Saturday 11 August. The London 2012 Diving programme will feature eight events - four for men, four for women - and involve either a 3m springboard or a 10m fixed platform. Each dive is marked out of 10 by a panel of judges, who take into consideration the dive's degree of difficulty. In the Synchronised Diving events, competing pairs are also assessed for their level of synchronisation. British diver Tom Daley opened the Aquatics Centre in July 2011 with one of his trademark dives from the 10m fixed platform - and all eyes will be on the current World Champion, who will turn 18 two months before the London 2012 Olympics.
