This well known restaurant in the heart of Crouch End has established a reputation for itself as a reliable local eaterie - and was runner up in the Best Local Restaurant Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards (2009). To the front of St James is a casual dining room, dominated by a large, marble-topped bar, and offering food and drink all day. Bistro-style dining tables offer a comfortable spot to tuck in to breakfast, lunch or dinner while bar stools overlooking the 'village' centre outside make an ideal perch for sipping on a cocktail. To the rear is the restaurant proper, a bright space offering seating for 32, with white walls, napery and mirrors all reflecting the natural day light that floods into the room through huge doors. These then open out to a secluded patio, perfect for warm days. The restaurant serves a seasonal a la carte menu, strong on comfort foods and robust flavours.
