famously hails from the East End and so it's entirely fitting that the photographer's East End Faces
exhibition is displayed at the William Morris Gallery
in Walthamstow, in the borough next door to Bailey's birthplace, Leytonstone. Bailey, who found fame in the 1960s capturing Mick Jagger, the Kray Brothers and the Beatles, and doing fashion shoots for Vogue, also turned his camera on the area of London where he grew up. This exhibition showcases those pictures, taken throughout East London in the 1960s, the '80s and more recently. Bailey himself appears at the gallery and visitors can hear him discussing his career with Sandy Nairne, Director of the National Portrait Gallery on Wednesday 13th March, one of a number of events planned to tie in with the exhibition.
