SE14 is mainly comprised of the New Cross area, known for its music culture and for being home to one of the most prestigious schools in the city. Goldsmiths, University of London can be found in New Cross, which is believed to have taken its name from a coaching house originally known as the 'Golden Cross' which stood close to the current Goldsmiths Tavern.
