London is a thrilling place for children to visit: big, busy and bursting with life. In the past few years, the capital has become impressively child-friendly with restaurants cafes and hotels making a special effort to welcome their younger guests.

Children will find lots to do around Kensington, the home of London's big three museums - the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and V&A - and handy for Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Or you can find both budget options and four star luxury at County Hall, right beside the Aquarium, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, and Southbank Centre arts complex, with Trafalgar Square and the West End shows and shopping just across the river.

Cheap and cheerful budget hotel chain Holiday Inn has eight Central London hotels and more within easy commuting distance.

If you can't find availability in your desired neighbourhood, getting around London is easy as children under 16 travel free on London's Tubes, trams and busses.
