in 2012 Kensington Close Hotel & Spa completed a £40m renovation and extension project in celebration of their Golden 50th Birthday. This includes over 700 new deluxe bedrooms along with new conference, banqueting and dining facilities. This hotel is well-placed to explore the cafes, shops and restaurants scattered along Kensington High Street. It's also a great base from which to discover the rest of London with High Street Kensington Tube only a two-minute walk away. There is a daily membership charge for use of Health Spa including Swimming pool, gym and spa facilities.

The staff at the Kensington Close hotel attracted very mixed reviews, for though in general they were praised – visitors noted “the concierge was very friendly and helpful”, “the staff were well-mannered” and “The friendly staff (especially in the reception area)” – some customers had serious problems with individual staff members: "'The customer is always right' obviously did not apply at this hotel" was one observation, “I object to… the way I was treated by the senior staff in the bar” was another. Aside from this, the “location, in a quality, upmarket, safe and easily accessible area of London” was popular, as was the pool, although one guest was annoyed that “The hotel blurb implied that use of the pool was free”. The hotel was considered by most to be “clean and comfortable”, if a little “functional”.

Currently the hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment which makes the hotel very noisy during the day. However, if you are travelling on business and at meetings most of the day it's great value at the moment.  |
