Filled with old fashioned touches like wood panelling, old paintings, stone flagged floors, claw foot baths and open fires, The Rookery has plenty of character. And all rooms are named after former residents. The homely atmosphere is further enhanced by the helpful, friendly service. Just two minutes' walk to Farringdon underground station, Clerkenwell's trendy bars and Smithfield Market offer plenty of attractions on the doorstep.

No tea or coffee in the room, everything was an extra which at £190 per night anyway is a bit of a cheek. Plus they decided to check someone in at 4am in the room above us creating a lot of noise - dind't sleep well, not impressed ![]() |

This hotel is wonderful and special. the rooms are like time machines to eighteenth-century London, but the service is up-to-date and professional.
The building's historic nature means no lifts and claw-foot tubs, so I wouldn't book here if you have large bags or mobility issues. But if you can travel light, it's a not-to-be-missed experience. ![]() |
