This is as close to Buckingham Palace as you can get. It's also nearby Victoria station which is not quite as glamorous but very convenient. There are three dining/bar areas, including the Palace Lounge for afternoon tea with a view over the Royal Mews and The New York Bar for innovative cocktails, gin tasting experiences and live music. Using the finest English produce and suppliers that serve the Queen's kitchen, the dining experience in The English Grill is also not to be missed.

“A favourite hotel of mine” was the verdict from a fan of the Rubens at the Palace. The food, service and accommodation have all come in for high praise: “very good” and “very tidy/clean”. If pushed, areas of improvement were for “more tea/coffee in the rooms” and breakfast – “although good was expensive” – to be included in the hotel costs. On the whole though, guests “liked everything” about this “well located hotel” from the “Staff professionalism and friendliness” to the “ambience of the Hotel” and “quality of public rooms”. One guest said “It just felt right for us and we will certainly return.”

The service at breakfast was not up to the usual standard. Breakfast opens at 6.30, but until almost 7, the staff are busy doing other things and not particularly attentive to guests.  |
