Café Royal is a 160-bedroom 5-star luxury hotel on Regent Street, in London's city centre overlooking Piccadilly Circus. The hotel has conference facilities, a cafe, bar and restaurants to suit different appetites. Artists such as Augustus John, James McNeill Whistler and Aubrey Beardsley dined there and, most famously, Oscar Wilde held court there. But in December 2012, the Royal Cafe reopened with a complete redesign by David Chipperfield Architects who retained the existing Grade I listed Louis XVI interiors, including the famous Grill Room, the marble Entrance Hall, and Domino Room. In addition, the original - previously obscured - Ten Room has been reworked as a new double height foyer on Air Street. The Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre is now open, featuring a large lap pool, sauna and Hammam/steam room and offering a range of signature treatments. Whist the main gym is being completed, guest have access to a temporary gym located on the second floor.

Superb service. Portland Room, in short, very
comfortable, but NOT worth the money paid. Electrical
system far too complicated, music noise until 3am from
one of the hotel Bars.  |

Hotel refurbishment a little drab and dark but some
good features kept. Service great but drinks very
expensive when you take account of service charges.
The Spa area is great but difficult to find and no
shampoo etc. available in shower areas. The sauna was
not really up to temperature but the steam room was
probably too hot!
