The Hotel Russell is a huge Victorian pile with stately art deco reception rooms and luxurious accommodation. The opulent public areas have recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment, restoring many original features from before World War II, and it is now a riot of marble, mirrors, mosaic and gilt. A perfect antidote to the blandly modern feel of many chain hotels.

“I have already recommended this hotel to several friends” one happy guest told us. It certainly makes a good first impression: “Loved the façade of this elaborate hotel” and “The outside appearance of the hotel is very grand and impressive” were just two comments on its exterior while another said the “marble decor was very impressive”. One guest found the photographs on the website misleading, “the standard bedrooms are not as nice as the advertised executive bedrooms” which “was a let down for us”. Depending on your room you may find the “Air conditioning extremely noisy” and some rooms are “the size of a rabbit hutch!” All in all, though, most people found it “a vast improvement on the Russell of a few years ago”, praising the “Period look and feel of the hotel” and “Proximity to [Euston] train station and London centre” making it “ideal for various West End destinations such as Covent Garden and Leicester Square”.

Deluxe single room was very small but clean, modern and comfortable. The only thing that let the hotel down was that the breakfast wasnt really 4 star standard but it was edible and there was plenty of it every morning. |

There are no separate shower areas in the bathroom , also the breakfast needs to be improved : maybe some pasta, omlettes, vegetable omlettes, yogurt, or something novel adn tastier!!! |
