Emulating the style of a French chateau, this grand Victorian residence, built in 1884, occupies a prime location within Westminster. It's worth staying at the Grade I-listed Royal Horseguards Hotel for its fascinating history alone. Politicians of note have met in the stately rooms at One Whitehall Place, adjacent to the hotel while all of its 281 rooms and suites have been upgraded to 5-star luxury - some with river views.

On entering this hotel you’re met with a “classy foyer” and “very courteous doorman”. But the most notable feature of the hotel is its proximity to the imposing London Eye and the “magical” view you get from one of the river side rooms. It may cost a little extra to secure a room with a view but it is entirely worthwhile, providing a “great view of London Eye and city skyline”. This “great location” means there’s “much within walking distance” including “theatres, galleries and the river” with “easy access to the Tube, buses, and the Eurostar to Paris”. The “excellent” breakfast buffet, included in the price, offers “a bountiful variety of delicious food”. Breakfast is served in the “lovely” dining area, where the “great service at the restaurant” has been appreciated by many. Equally, if you prefer to dine in your room, the “room service food” is “top notch”. “Comfortable and well equipped” rooms are “spacious” and come with “comfortable bed and pillows”. Despite much high praise for this “superb albeit somewhat pricey” hotel it was let down slightly by some of the finer details such as “poor quality” fixtures and fittings and some worn-looking headboards. Keep an eye out for the somewhat “expensive” additional charge if you want to check-out late.

Amazing hotel, the only thing i would recommend is that when we went for breakfast we werent told what the routine was ie where to get plates etc. other than that, totally perfect! |
