This famous “stylish” hotel is steeped in history; its elegant Tango Tea Dance is a great example of this. A stay here is all about “location, location, location” and you really can’t get more central; its “prime positioning” “just one minute walk to Covent Garden” make this a “great launch site to see the city” and theatre shows. It’s a “fabulous hotel” that people choose when they have an anniversary, birthday or special occasion they want to celebrate in style. Guests “loved being spoiled and treated well” and found it “really made the weekend stay a real pleasure”.Although the Hiltons may have a reputation as being expensive hotels, “they are actually better value than most equal (star) London hotels” and this “good value” means that “just about everything is included in the price of the room”. Though internet access is extra guests appreciated the fact there were “no nasty checkout surprises at all”. The “economical package when the breakfast and one evening meal was included” is particularly good value. The “excellent fresh food” was praised and “the breakfast buffet was gorgeous” with one guest claiming it as “the best scrambled egg I have ever tasted”. Guests “really enjoyed the decoration in the entire hotel” particularly in the dining room and the “very contemporary”, “good size” bedrooms which were “decorated with a lot of taste”. The “checkout (and in) process is very well designed and painless” while “helpful staff with a good command of English” make this a “grand place to stay”.

The day we arrived it was snowing and very cold. Our room was cold and we were unable to heat it using the controls in the room. To their credit, the hotel sent an engineer to see to it as soon as we complained and it was fine when we returned later in the evening. The following day breakfast in the dining room was a very cold experience, We were unable to sit inside the Salon and were seated outside on the balcony where it was considerably colder. The staff were very apologetic but the considerable lack of heat spoiled what should have been a pleasant and relaxing breakfast experience.  |

1) I found the price of the internet unreasonably high (£14 per day) - I went to the sofitel afterwards - they have daily charge of £6 and even free for a slower speed - which is fine just to check e-mail.
2) I was charged for an item from the mini bar despite not having anything from it (I had exams nearby and used the fridge to store some food in - perhaps triggering the sensors) - My observation and rejection of the charge were ignored. |
