OUR WONDERFUL VISIT IN SEPTEMBER 2017
From the time that we were welcomed back as we arrived and greeted warmly in the hotel, then escorted to a smooth checking-in process, to the wonderful efforts of Ryan in the Podium Restaurant and his staff to ensure that we had a good breakfast before our departure, it was, a superb experience which was permeated with warm welcomes back great service and it made the whole stay one we will not forget in a hurry. So taking all the aspects of the visit here are set out below the staff who contributed so much to our stay with the treatment of us at all times: - Firstly and quite rightly we would wish to pass on to the General Manager Michael Shepherd and his PA Charlotte who we met, for making us feel so welcome and and also in the case of Mr. Shepherd for delineating such a wonderful ethos of Guest Relations which contributed so much to our visit as you will see below That feeling was replicated throughout our visit by the good wishes and warm welcome we received wherever we went in the hotel and contributed so much to our enjoyment of the visit, as you will see below As regular guests at this hotel. what is so exceptional with this hotel is that the standard of Customer Care never varies and that is why each year we visit the hotel on numerous occasions and it has never failed to impress us. So area by area I will detail the staff who impressed, in the case of the Executive Lounge, if you book an Executive room You are then entitled to use the Executive lounge, where breakfast is served as is afternoon tea with snacks and in the evening drinks and further snacks you can also see from the window across to Hyde Park. The location of the hotel could not be better, you feel that you are not in the centre of London, as Hyde Park is just across the road, but you are only 10-15 minutes walk from Oxford Street and Knightsbridge, also there are 3 nearby Tube Stations, Marble Arch, Hyde Park Corner and Green Park, which between them give you access to the whole of the Underground system. My wife and I find the Oyster Card system is invaluable in travelling around the network. Outside the hotel is a Taxi Rank and also the London Transport Buses and Tour Buses have a stop a few yards from the entrance so as I said earlier the position is so convenient for whatever you wish to do whilst staying at the Hotel. There are three Restaurants in the Hotel, the Podium, Trader Vic’s and Galvins, each serving different cuisines so the hotel caters for all types of tastes. So here are the areas that we came into contact with and the staff who made the visit so memorable. RECEPTION Apart from welcoming as we arrived PHILLIPINE also helped us on many occasions and she also guided through the check-out faultlessly and with her wonderful warm welcome and nice personality she made my wife and I feel very special. A very impressive member of staff. DARREN checked us in and welcomed us back and made the whole routine of check-in very smooth. He also helped us on many occasions during the visit. ISHITA spotted us in the Foyer and came over to us and welcomed us back and asked if all was ok so far and hoped. that we did have a lovely visit. We did assure her that everything was perfect. CLEMENTE- welcomed us back and enquired whether everything was ok so far with the visit and we told her it certainly was. SANDHYE-When I went down to the Foyer early on Friday morning to get the bill she said she knew we were back at the hotel as she had seen us on the list but had not seen us up to that date as she had been on nights, but she said it was nice to see us again and hoped that we had had a lovely visit, which indeed we had. GUEST RELATIONS TABITA- We had several conversations with her during the visit and her helpfulness, warm welcome and great sense of humour gave us some lovely moments during the visit. ABDEL- where do we start, we nearly always have a humorous conversation with him when we are coming out of either Trader Vic’s or The Podium, he is always helpful if we have any queries or any other matters and he always helps with this wonderful personality of his which makes it a pure pleasure to engage him in conversation whenever we see him, we had so many laughs with him this time, we are still staggered by his command of languages. BENNY He greeted us many times and welcomed us back and always asked if all was ok and what interesting things we had done OPERATIONS We met Serge very early on in the visit and he welcomed us back very warmly and also asked if everything was ok. EXECUTIVE LOUNGE As ever LAURO was the star and would not let my wife do anything whilst in the Lounge, getting her tea for her and in the evening glasses of Prosecco for us both, he is a very impressive member of staff and we observe this as we watch him dealing with all guests who enter the Executive lounge. He warmly welcomed us back and wanted to know what we had done this visit. Michaela also welcomed us back and served us really well. DOORMEN AND PORTERS Paulo and Roy welcomed us back when we arrived and arranged with the porters to take our bags up to the room as we arrived, they were helpful throughout the visit with their local knowledge of the weather and also were interested where we had been on the visit. We also met up with Rashid who was so pleased to see us and hope that we would have a lovely visit. Peter and Sean also welcomed us back. TRADER VIC’S We had two meals in Trader Vic’s and both were made so memorable by not only the food but by the wonderful welcome back. knowledge of dishes and pure fun that we had chatting to CHAN who gave us superb service and made each of the visits a pure pleasure. RENEE was also so welcoming and served our meals beautifully. We were also introduced to MARCUS who made us very welcome and ensured that we thoroughly enjoyed the meals which we certainly did, the MAITIES were as usual wonderful, as was the food which we both found wonderfully delicious so with great service, wonderful staff and great food, two wonderful occasions. PODIUM We had Two Dinners, 4 Breakfasts and Three Lunches in the Podium and the following staff made each visit a real occasion with their wonderful welcome back, friendly and efficient service and great knowledge of the dishes.
GORAV- he welcomed us back and hoped we would have a great visit, We had a long conversation about International Cricket, in addition he was constantly was asking whether everything was ok with the meals we had in the Podium. RYAN Ryan warmly welcomed us back on the first day of our visit and he ensured that on that last morning we had a good breakfast to set us up for our journey home to North Wales. On the morning of our departure he personally ensured we had all we wanted for our breakfast for which we were very grateful. During all our meals the following were very impressive ILDIKO She served us several times and her warmth of welcome back, service during the meals and knowledge of the dishes was superb, we rate her very highly indeed. TINA –served us on several occasions and still remembered that my wife likes Earl Grey Tea and I like Coffee, she has a nice personality and is very efficient. MOHAMMED- Served our meals to us on several occasions and we had several conversations with him he said he was pleased to see us back and hoped we had a lovely holiday. ERIKA AND JACK Both Jack and Erika served us during our visit and we had great service from them and they both welcomed us back and like the other staff mentioned above were very knowledgeable about the dishes or helpful when we need items.
FABIANA Supervised several meals we had in the Podium and ensured we had all we needed and welcomed us back. KORNELIA She also welcomed us back warmly and was always asking if our meals were ok and was there anything we wanted. AGA Such a warm welcome back, great supervision of our meals and we had a wonderful conversation about Poland which my wife and I have visited in the past, she is so helpful and we rate her very highly.
So finally just to say that all of the above contributed so much to the pure enjoyment we experienced during our visit, and as I have said before this is due to the ethos of Guest Relations which The General Manager determines which ensures that over and over again we will return to ‘Our Favourite Hotel in 2018 we are have 5 visits planned in 2018. So here is a hotel which is in a wonderful position and from which the views of London get better the higher room you are in, and in this connection Executive Rooms are generally on the higher Floors where wonderful views can be obtained, it has great transport links, is so close to Oxford Street and Knightsbridge but feels nearer the countryside as Hyde and Green Park are nearby as is Grosvenor Square and best of all the Guest Relations are absolutely wonderful and as with this visit, make very time we visit pure joy.

Park lane.. done get me wrong very swanky part of London but the Hilton is ok. With its many eateries and some very scenic views across London it's a nice hotel. Service was ok for a renowned hotel it's just ok. It shouldn't be the prices they charge you are better off staying with the Savoy, Ritz,Dorchester or Lanesbourgh.
