This ravishing revival of  The King and I  is this summer's must see in the West End. A superb score, stunning scenery, lavish costumes and commanding performances will have you enraptured and enthralled. Starring the First Lady of British musical theatre, Elaine Paige, as Anna and introducing Jason Scott Lee as the King of Siam, this dazzling musical celebration should not be missed.

The Story
KING & IKING & IKING & I
The King and I  tells the delightful story of an adventurous Englishwoman, Anna Leonowens, brought to the court of the King of Siam to tutor his many children. Brimming with passion, set to one of the most glorious and unforgettable scores ever written, including Shall we Dance?, I Whistle a Happy Tune, Hello Young Lovers and Getting to Know You, this production brilliantly captures the confrontation and, finally, respect and love between people of two differing cultures.

Sets and Costumes
Christopher Renshaw, the director, along with the design team, Brian Thomson (sets), Roger Kirk (costumes), and Nigel Levings (lighting) are responsible for some of the most luscious designs ever seen on the British stage. After carrying out thorough research of Thailand's Royal Palace and temples, the designers have recreated a lavish and authentic Thai experience.

The Production
Written by the illustrious, award-winning team, Rodgers and Hammerstein, the original production opened on Broadway in 1951 to outstanding critical and public acclaim. The allure of  The King and I  quickly spread world-wide, and soon became known as one of the classic musicals of all time.
