Then, during your stay, you'll be treated to a masterclass with City Dog training school, teaching pooches how to handle the various situations that London life may present, such as getting around on public transport and how to take a 'pelfie' (pet selfie). You'll also be given a VIP membership to StyleTails, the luxury online shop for pet lovers, and provided with the opportunity to relax in the Hansom Lounge, where dogs will be presented with a refreshing bowl of water while you relax with a cup of tea. Come bedtime, dogs will be treated to MiaCara food and a Charley Chau dog bed and blanket. With its own resident pooch, a golden retriever by the name of Pearl, Rosewood London specialises in pampered pets. Welcoming any cats or dogs under 7kg to stay for free, the hotel treats dogs to a sumptuous bed, tasty welcome treats, water and food bowls, as well as information on local dog-friendly restaurants, bars and parks. But if you want book in for a pampering experience for you and your pooch the hotel has a Canine Package where Rex gets a pampering session by celebrity dog groomer Jamie Griffen while you relax at the Sense Spa. A Barbour dog bed, collar and lead, for use during your stay, and Lily's Kitchen meals are included in the deal. While it doesn't have any specific pet packages at present, The Ace Hotel is dog-friendly and provides a luxury spot to stay with your furry friend. With interiors by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby that bring together vintage furniture and original artwork, you and your companion will feel right at home. All dogs are welcome, but if you want to bring anything larger or stranger than a dog, contact the hotel and see if they can accommodate you. A reasonable rate of £25 per night is required with no charge for additional pets and during the stay they are allowed in all public areas except for the restaurant, Hoi Polloi, and the downstairs bar.

The Athenaeum Hotel, perfected situated opposite Green Park, offers 47 acres of open parkland for your four-legged friends to stretch their legs. The Mayfair hotel also offers an evening buddy service so dogs who prefer not to be left alone get one to one companionship in the evenings. It's just one of the dog friendly extras at the Mayfair hotel located just an eight minute walk from Buckingham Palace. The paw down service is a shorter evening visit from one of the Bone Rangers team, including a short walk, cuddles and feeding if necessary. They also offer hour-long walks giving your favourite canine plenty of exercise and stimulation with lots of cuddles at the end. All three services come at an added cost but you can rest assure Fido will be getting the five-star treatment.

The Art Deco Sheraton Grand London Park Lane has a bone fide connection to canines. Two dotty dogs named Pongo and Perdy, the stars of 101 Dalmations, are associated with the hotel which is where much of the film was set. The hotel is also well positioned for walkies, opposite Green Park. Pets are welcome as long as there's just one per room and dogs can stay for free if they weigh less than 40 pounds - that's smaller than a golden retriever, bigger than your typical terrier and everything in between. Originally opened in 1927 at the height of the Roaring Twenties, the 303-room hotel had a complete transformation in 2016 when the 'Grand' was put back into the name - and look - of this historic hotel.

Blakes Hotel in South Kensington is the original boutique hotel but the atmosphere is friendly rather than formal and that attitude extends to dogs. A short stroll from Hyde Park, the hotel also has its own outside space - a Matthew Williamson-styled courtyard. Their approach to pooches is bespoke and includes a menu (subject to prior request of the owner) for your four legged friend, based on the dietary requirements of each dog. Precious pups also receive a personalised gold bowl engraved with their name.
