Patrick Powell, former head chef of Chiltern Firehouse, who worked under Nuno Mendes for four years, heads up the kitchen at Allegra, the restaurant on level 7 of The Stratford hotel - part of Harry Handelsman's 42 storey skyscaper overlooking Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Accessed via the hotel lobby, through a private lift, the restaurant is a comforting space of greens and greys with floor to ceiling windows and a stone Monteplier floor - designed by Space Copenhagen, the duo behind the legendary NOMA. Many of the restaurant's ingredients, used in dishes like suckling pig and heritage rib eye, are sourced from Full Circle Farm - Harry's own farm in Kent, its purchase showing his commitment to the farm-to-fork journey. Charcuterie comes from their in-house curing room and herbs are grown on the roof terrace. The restaurant opens out onto a large garden under the triple-height, cedar cantilevered roof. Sit out on the terrace overlooking the London skyline and enjoy dishes cooked on the outdoor grill which acts as a large fireplace in the evenings.
