JPC, or Jamaica Patty Co. to give this Covent Garden restaurant its full name, is the brainchild of Jamaica-born Theresa Roberts. Promising to transform preconceptions about Caribbean cuisine, JPC has a "contemporary but authentic" approach to cooking. Patties are, naturally, centre stage, freshly baked in store every day and filled with deliciously spicy fillings. Options include jerk chicken, prawn, curried goat and Jamaica's national dish of Ackee and Salt Fish. The kitchen is run by multi-award winning Jamaican chef Collin Brown, three times voted Caribbean Chef of the Year, who cooks up mouthwatering speciality soups like punchy pumpkin with a spicy kick, chicken and dumpling and gungo pea - perfect for a healthy lunch on the go. Other dining options include Jamaican porridge and a shot of Blue Mountain coffee in the morning, patties and Plantain crisps, as well as Tortuga rum cake, banana bread, or Devon House Ice Cream for something sweet. Wash down with fresh coconut water or soursop juice, the tropical drink renowned for its health benefits.
