Chef-patron of this cosy, intimate restaurant, tucked away in a corner Mews in Notting Hill, Marianne Lumb, comes from a butcher's family in Leicestershire and completed her restaurant training at Michelin star restaurant Gravetye Manor and then workd at top London restaurants The River Cafe and Le Gavroche. She has worked as a private chef for A-list celebrities like the Bamfords and the Sainsbury family and in 2009 she made it to the final three of MasterChef: The Professionals. She won London Restaurant Chef of the Year at the London Restaurant Festival in 2013, the same year she set up this eponymous restaurant on Chepstow Road. At Marianne, menus change daily using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients. To give you a taste, typical dishes include starters of burrata and saffron tortellini with vegetable consomme and lovage, hand-dived Cornish scallops with Breton artichoke puree, and cepe risotto. Main courses are steamed turbot with braised fennel, coco beans and lemon confit, roasted pigeon with puy lentils and pumpkin, and fillet of Wagyu beef with creamed potatoes and pan juices. And with just 14 covers and four tables, Marianne brings the experience of private dining to the wider public.
