One of two Roka restaurants to open in London in 2014, Roka Mayfair opened on North Audley Street on 17th February and Roka Aldwych opened in October 2014. Ten years after Rainer Becker set up the original Roka and Shochu Lounge on Charlotte Street in 2004, Roka Mayfair follows the successful formula of the original restaurant with the charcoal robata grill at the heart of the contemporary Japanese restaurant. Excellent ingredients and expertly crafted sushi and sashimi compliment the food from the robata grill and dishes like rice hot pot with lobster from a menu overseen by the group's executive chef, Hamish Brown. Relaxed yet elegant dining is the feel of the Mayfair restaurant where glimpses of crimson complement the contemporary design and a plush upholstered wall features hand-painted Japanese prints. The main dining room seats 80 guests, you can eat at the robata counter, or dine outside on terrace where there's seating for 12. Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney, who first appeared on the London restaurant scene in 2002 with Zuma, will have four Roka branches in London by the end of 2014, with the two new openings following hot on the heels of their 2013 launch of Oblix on the 32nd floor of The Shard.
