Taking over the Marylebone site where The Providores used to be is the second branch of Taka, a high end Japanese restaurant which originated in Mayfair's Shepherd Market. A shot of sake, served traditionally overflowing into the masu (square wooden box) is followed by an extensive choice of Japanese dishes beautifully presented in wooden baskets and oversized leaves. Choose from the tataki, tempura and sashimi platters to inside out rolls and Hamachi carpaccio. Don't miss the yakitori selection including the sake teriyaki grilled salmon alongside the tebasaki grilled chicken wings. Moving on to the robata yaki offers a miso marinated black cod served in a houba leaf alongside the beef ribeye served with lotus root chips and yakiniku sauce. If this sequel is anything like the original there'll be a bar where you can get cocktails made with sake, Japanese liquor and whiskey. The design is contemporary with a wooden counter for solo diners, sharing tables and laser cut decorative panels in brass.
