Texan BBQ, vintage bourbon and live blues seven nights a week make the good times roll at The Blues Kitchen in Brixton, one of three such Blues Kitchens in London alongside Camden and Shoreditch. Southern style cooking is centre stage with USDA beef flown in direct from Texas. Classic 12 hour smoked brisket is served alongside burnt ends and fall-off-the-bone 16 hour beef short ribs. Other highlights include succulent buttermilk fried chicken, tender St Louis pork ribs, buffalo wings and the popular 'Burger of the Month' - with specials inspired by the Caribbean food culture of Brixton. Split over two floors, with a tiled bar on the ground floor, a club upstairs and live stages on both, the restaurant decor is a mix of artwork from New Orleans, stained glass, Tiffany lights and leather clad booth seating. Music is a big deal at The Blues Kitchen - Seasick Steve, Gary Clark Jnr and Norman Jay have all played in the past - and the intimate stage on the ground floor has blues, swing, gospel and bluegrass shows while upstairs on the first floor there's Mississippi bluesmen and Louisiana-style brass bands. Plus resident musicians and DJs play until 2am every Friday and Saturday night.
