Behind a glass fronted arch at Battersea Power Station's Circus West Village, David Biffani and Nick Pound have opened a really rather good rustic pizza place, mother. Pull up a seat at the bar down the back and enjoy the banter between the two (David on quality control ensuring the burrata is just so, Nick putting the pizzas together behind a long wooden worktop). Plates of roasted vegetables, cold cuts and deep fried mozzarella leave barely any room for the main event. Anyone familiar with the original mother pizza restaurant in Copenhagen will already be sold on their superior sourdough pizzas. Made with seawater, they come with 20 per cent less salt making them healthy for you. The wine is natural and they even make their own beer and cheese in Denmark. The bare brick bones of the building have, thankfully, been left alone (no duct ventilation, boxed off spaces or plastering). Open from breakfast, weekend brunch is a big draw - eggs, home made pastries, granola and bread are served buffet style so you can take as much as you want. With low lighting and a stencilled 'mother' on the arched roof, the vibe is hip and buzzing - a slice of authentic Italy brought to Battersea's West Village via Copenhagen.

Aperitivo - Every Friday from 5pm to 6pm mother will be serving Aperitivo, a tradition which originated in 1920's Milan when Italians would set out a spread of left overs from the previous night - and have a nibble with a glass of wine. Cold meets, cheeses and even few slices of pizza can be found - although traditionally enjoyed with a glass of wine, the offer here includes any drink from the bar. All for a tenner.
