The Norfolk Arms may look like a tarted up Victorian boozer but it's best known for its excellent modern English food in sample sizes designed to be shared, tapas style. There are Spanish influences, too, in the frequently changing menu which includes a good cross section of cuisines from the charcuterie to chickpea & tomato stew, from marinated octopus to chicken liver pate, served with ginger and plum chutney on toast. The crab was a highlight. As well as the sharing plates there's a section on the menu devoted to dishes 'From the Kitchen' so you can get a substantial plate of organic rib of beef with all the trimmings, all to yourself. Situated North of Russell Square tube station, the Norfolk Arms is a welcome addition to the area, within five minutes' walk of both Kings Cross and Euston tube stations.
