Go underground at this below stairs drinking den beneath Bishopsgate and you'll be greeted by cocktails, craft beers, homemade soup and hot toasties. WM Barker & Co, named after the original owner of the building at 202 Bishopsgate, offers a carefully curated list of ten seasonally changing cocktails. Made with sweet and sour shrubs syrups, each drink is inspired by the local area resulting in choices like The Canary Wharf - vodka mixed with Kahlua, caramel shrub and espresso - and The Shoreditch, Beefeater gin with floral flavours of elderflower and parmaviolet. Meantime and Camden Town Brewery beers are best accompanied by freshly made daily changing soups, charcuterie and cheese boards. Or try The Brinner toastie and you'll get egg, cumberland sausage and bacon all with black bomber cheddar cheese oozily melting over it. Billed as the antidote to boring City bars, music is played all day but gets cranked up at night when the caffeine fuelled cocktails really kick in.
