In an area saturated with excellent informal dining, the Roebuck more than holds its own, with a short menu of classic gastropub fare, most of it sourced from the excellent local food shops. The main courses are seasonal British favourites like bangers 'n' mash, lamb rump with polenta, carrots and garlic leaves, pies, steaks and other simple seasonal British favourites, while starters range a little further round Europe for their inspiration. It still feels like a real pub, too, with wood-panelled walls and comfy seating. The bar area is usually busy with drinkers enjoying Fullers ales and a good wine list - though if you're hungry, you're likely to find the scents from the open kitchen completely irresistible. The Roebuck really comes into its own in summer, when the leafy garden packs out with the yummy mummies of Chiswick.
