Dripping with exclusive opulence, this incredibly smart little restaurant in The Savoy hotel, restored in 2010 to a design found in the hotel's archive, is a sociable spot. Built into the centre of the original 1889 hotel building when The Savoy was extended in 1904, the elegant Thames Foyer room is where diners first rose to dance to the music being played while they ate, thus inventing the dinner-dance. Once a month that tradition is revived and you can enjoy a 3-course dinner and dance til midnight under the stunning glass cupola. Live music is also played during Afternoon Tea at The Savoy as a pianist serenades guests from a winter garden gazebo while they enjoy tea, cakes and pastries. Open seven days from 8am to 11pm, the room provides a graceful setting, a combination of striking Art Nouveau mirrors and stylish cream lamps, as well as a fabulous view of the river where the boats putter up and down the vast expanse of slowly moving water.
