Visitor Information
Claire Ptak started her baking business as a market stall on Broadway Market before opening this cafe in 2010. But in 2018 Violet Cakes reached a global audience when Claire was asked to make the royal wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The beautiful lemon elderflower cake was made of three separate cakes displayed on ornate gold goblets and decorated with fresh peonies and roses. You can order your very own cake, made with organic and low intervention ingredients and limited edition buttercream icings. Cupcakes, whoopie pies and biscuits are also available at the cafe and the options available change with the seasons. They are made by whipping up butter and sugar then gently folding in fresh fruit purees and served with freshly brewed espresso or homemade flower cordials. All cakes can be made with gluten-free flour and without the alcoholic soak on request.
