Ritzy Cafe
This funky little jazz bar is one of South London's hidden delights. Don't worry about the depressingly empty pub section you can see from the street. Upstairs, there are two cosy, intimate continental-style bars, with small tables and lots of candles.
The live music is drawn from the varied Brixton jazz scene, but the quality is invariably high, whether you're listening to Arabic electronica or traditional French accordion music. There's a short food menu of pizzas, crepes and toasties which is well worth checking out. The pizzas are delightfully thin and piled high with ingredients, while the savoury crepes are rich, filling and extremely reasonably priced.
Huge windows give a great view over the continuous street theatre of central Brixton. Live jazz almost every night and walls covered in movie posters make this a cineastes paradise and a great spot to take a date.
